Did you know?
Women are underrepresented in medical studies.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has been conducting medical studies since 1887. But it wasn’t until 1993 that the FDA officially mandated including women in research (reversing its 1977 guidance).
We all lose muscle mass.
We all start to lose muscle mass as we age(Sarcopenia). Beginning in your 30s and 40s, you gradually begin to lose muscle mass, and that loss accelerates in your 60s to 80s.
Age isn’t the only culprit.
Other factors also contribute to sarcopenia. Physical inactivity, lack of weight management (Obesity avoidance), reduction in hormone levels, malnutrition, and inadequate protein intake all lead to muscle mass loss. The good news is that most of these factors can be addressed or avoided.
Community is key to developing health and wellness.
NIH shared that developing and participating in Community activities is key to developing health and wellness. Despite this knowledge, challenges remain. That’s why one of our goals is to develop community as we build and repair our bodies.
